At Green House Cottages of Carmel, we strive to make the process of transitioning your loved one from their home to our cottages as easy as possible. We like to know the story behind the Elders living in our community. By not seeing Elders as a number but as a person, our staff is able to provide better quality care. Before moving into the community, our leadership team takes the time to learn about Elders’ personal preferences, personalities, and even their hobbies.
When it comes time to make the transition into a skilled nursing community, you want to know that your loved one will be well cared for. You want to know that they’re comfortable and feel at home the moment they step into the community. At Green House Cottages of Carmel, we focus on creating a comfortable environment by providing every Elder their own private space in a cottage that has an open environment. Our goal during this time of transition is to make the process as smooth as possible. We want you and your loved one to be comfortable not only in the cottage but with the decision to live at Green House Cottages. We also encourage you and your family to come visit as frequently as you want. There is plenty of room in the hearth room, dining room, and even outdoor spaces to spend time together.
We are more than happy to show you and your loved one our skilled nursing community. We know that when you walk through the front door of one of our cottages, you’ll notice something different from other facilities. We offer Elders the opportunity to continue living on their own schedules. They can spend time in their private suite, take in the outdoors, and enjoy home-cooked meals every day. Ready to get started?
Our Leadership Team actually sits down and talks to Elders and their families. With our personal approach to senior care, we make it a priority to get to know Elders, their likes and dislikes, their routines, and their hobbies. We want to get to know the individual and their story. By treating Elders as individuals and not numbers, our whole team learns things like what newspaper they prefer to read and even how they like their eggs to be cooked.
After discussing and assessing your loved ones’ needs, it’s time to move them into their private suite. Elders feel more at home when they have some sense of privacy, which is why we provide each Elder with their own bedroom and bathroom. We encourage you to move some of the furniture from home into their new bedroom. Adding personal touches like photos and their favorite decor items will help create a sense of home. Once settled in, Elders are free to spend time in the den reading, taking in nature on the patio, or even talking with others in the hearth room.
